This facility is located at the intersection of Highway 101 and Highway 5 in Chanhassen, Minn. It consists of a complete master-planned campus for a growing congregation as part of a larger 'new urban' development, which includes housing, retail and restaurants. The facility includes: a 1,500-seat church; a narthex gathering space; parish offices; nursery; an education center designed for a two-section day school for kindergarten through eighth grade, as well as religious education for up to 1,000; a kitchen; and a gymnasium with stage and locker rooms. Designed to maximize the site, the facility is an 'L' shape with the two-story school attached to the single story sanctuary. A major design axis reinforces the community's emphasis on the tabernacle, altar, crucifix, baptismal font, bell tower incorporating the historic church bells and the entrance to the education center. |
