Opus North is building a five-story, 115,000 square-foot College of Engineering facility for Marquette University. Sited in the central corridor of the campus, this classroom, office, laboratory and research facility is the hub for the College of Engineering.
The glassy exterior reinforces the ‘Engineering on Display’ focus and enhances the new facility identity as an avant-garde educational institution teaching engineers of the 21st century. The collegiate gothic and forward looking facility is organized about a central spine, providing an opportunity to showcase laboratories and research. A central hub of activity, with the adjacent arrangement of labs, class rooms, offices and collaborative work areas to create teaching and research ‘houses.’ This arrangement encourages daily interaction, both among students and between faculty and students.
A four-story open stairwell will provide an impressive open space with glass walls, views into several labs to watch researchers in action and balconies with dramatic overlooks.
