Opus North Promotes Grady Hamilton
Chicago  ( July 29, 2009 )

Rosemont, Ill.-based Opus North Corporation has announced the promotion of Grady Hamilton, 34, from real estate director to senior real estate director in Opus North’s real estate development division. Daniel Queenan, president and CEO of Opus North, made the announcement.

Hamilton is responsible for managing Opus North’s office development and leasing strategies in the Chicago market. This includes sourcing land and development opportunities; overseeing the company’s relationships with existing and prospective tenants; fostering broker relationships; consulting with Opus’ in-house engineers and architects; and working with city and state officials to obtain project approvals.

Since joining Opus North in 2005, Hamilton has supervised the development and leasing of some of suburban Chicago’s largest, speculative Class A office buildings, including the 160,085-square-foot Opus Landmark of Lake Forest II, in Lake Forest, Ill., and the 251,235-square-foot Highland Landmark V in Downers Grove, Ill, where DeVry recently committed to a long-term lease for 165,000 square feet. Most recently, he oversaw the development of Opus Gateway at The Glen in Glenview, Ill., and helped secure its first two tenants, Mead Johnson Nutrition Co., in a long-term lease of 30,000 square feet, and Navman Wireless, who will occupy approximately 9,000 square feet. Hamilton also completed the development, leasing and sale of an 119,000-square-foot, build-to-suit-to-lease project for AIG/American General in Springfield, Ill.

“Grady’s ability to find the right piece of land, design the right project and secure the right tenant mix is outstanding,” said Queenan. “Within the past eight months alone, in one of our industry’s most challenging times, he has helped Opus North deliver the right projects to the market and lease almost 340,000 square feet of Class A suburban office space.”

Queenan added that Hamilton’s natural ability to integrate and build relationships will serve the company well as it pursues more third-party, design-build projects. “Grady is very hands-on with his clients, as well as our in-house engineers and architects, and enjoys collaborating with them. He also knows how to take an owner’s perspective to design-build projects, which is a unique benefit to offer clients.”

A native of Minneapolis, Hamilton graduated from Miami University with a bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering and engineering management. Prior to joining Opus North, he lived in Minneapolis and worked for Otis Elevator Co., CRESA Partners, and The Lander Group, a condominium developer. Hamilton currently resides in Hinsdale with his wife and two children.
