Opus' unique design-build approach and its ability to customize projects based on the complexity and need for cost-effective and highly functional office buildings have resulted in award-winning projects across the country. The company has completed 648 office projects totaling 76 million square feet since it's inception in 1953. Opus is currently ranked #2 among the Top 25 Office Developers by National Real Estate Investor magazine.
Opus has been a major developer of industrial buildings throughout the country since its inception in 1953, and is currently ranked #8 among the Top 25 Industrial Developers by National Real Estate Investor magazine. Opus has completed more than 1,053 industrial projects totaling 122 million square feet. Opus’ expertise includes manufacturing and distribution centers such as DHL in Allentown, Pa., the Plainfield Business Center at Airwest in Indianapolis, the 1.6-million-square-foot Enterprise Business Park in Aberdeen, Md., and a ConAgra Foods temperature controlled warehouse in Atlanta.
Opus’ extensive retail development background spans all categories of retail, including grocery-anchored centers, power centers, lifestyle/town centers and mixed-use developments. Using its proven design-build approach, Opus listens to and collaborates with communities and clients to build beyond their retail development visions. Opus has completed 167 retail projects totaling more than 23 million square feet.
Signature retail projects include: the Burr Ridge Village Center, a 500,000-square-foot mixed-use development located 25 miles west of downtown Chicago and the Suwanee Gateway mixed-use development with 360,000 square feet of retail, plus 580,000 square feet of office space, 700 residential units and a hotel, outside Atlanta.
Opus’ experience and skill in real estate development includes 30 years of developing top-of-the-line multifamily projects. From high-rise condominium towers in major urban centers to luxury waterfront residences in suburban communities, Opus relies on its vertically integrated design-build approach to bring innovative multifamily projects to life.
Opus’ expertise includes such projects as the 255-unit Carlyle in downtown Minneapolis; the Scottsdale Waterfront residences with 198 units in Scottsdale, Ariz.; The Pinnacle at City Park South, a 271- unit condominium project in Denver; and Parkshore Plaza, the 118 unit high-rise condominium proejct in St, Petersburg, Fla.
With more than 1.6 million square feet of leased space under development for the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), Opus is a leader in unique forms of government projects. For example, Aberdeen Proving Ground and the U.S. Army selected Opus to develop nearly 300 acres of land at the Aberdeen Providing Ground in northern Maryland. The project called The GATE (Government and Technology Enterprise), is an Enhanced Use lease (EUL) project, providing Opus with a 50-year ground lease to develop offices, labs and a hotel/conference center to be used primarily for government purposes.
Another recently completed government project is the Social Security Administration Center in Birmingham, Ala. Opus South, in collaboration with HOK Architects, incorporated environmentally friendly construction and energy conservation measures in the design to achieve LEED® Silver certification. Located in the historic Civic Rights District of Birmingham, this project maintains historic integrity while revitalizing this area.
Opus also recently completed the EPA Region 8 Headquarters, a 292,000-square-foot building located in the historic neighborhood of Lower Downtown Denver.
Opus has been developing institutional facilities across the U.S. for more than 50 years. From K-12 schools to churches, libraries and athletic facilities, Opus has worked with community leaders to develop highly functional, cost-effective buildings that enhance and support their communities.
Since it's inception in 1953, Opus has completed 398 institutional projects totaling more than 18 million square feet.
